Hide Network Neighborhood Icon

Operating System Windows 2000 / XP / 2003

Category Desktop

Network Neighborhood or My Network Places is an icon on the desktop which is a place holder which shows all the computer connected directly to the local system. By default this icon is embedded on the desktop and is very helpful but keeping security in mind it is not desirable to show connected computer to everyone. This tweak will Hide Network neighborhood icon from the desktop.

registry repair
Steps for applying this Tweak
  • Open your Registry
  • Go to one of the following location
  • For changes to occur for current user
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer
  • For change to occur for all users
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer
  • Create or Modify if exists Dword value called "NoNetHood"
  • set value as 0 to disable Or 1 to Enable this Tweak.
  • restart windows or logout for setting to take effect.
