How to Open Registry Editor

Registry editor is a tool which is used to edit the content of registry. This tool is provided by microsoft with thier operating system.

Follow these steps to open registry editor.

  1. Click on start and the click on run

  2. In run dialog box type regedit

  3. Either press enter or click Ok button on the run dialog box

 

If you get an error while opening this dialog box then one of the following situation is true

  1. You don't have permision to work with regedit.exe

  2. Registry Editing has been disable as security policy

  3. Regedit is missing or not placed in %systemRoot% directory.
